10/13/2002: about Mad to Be Saved
Spoilers for Andromeda 3x03 Mad to Be Saved ahead...
Okay, that woman kissing Dylan at the beginning (I forgot her name), it gave me faint hope that TPTB might at least have an ironic look at the BOTW phenomenon, I liked Andromeda's incredulous reaction to seeing Dylan suck face with someone he doesn't know at all. And clearly they need security protocols when they take people on board. I mean, who lets just anyone get into such sensitive places on their ship that they can blow it up by banging on stuff and have an easy time taking hostages? Wanting to save people and believe in the good is one thing, being so gullible and careless that it is criminally stupid is another. Also there should be some way for Andromeda to contain the situation in the machine shop earlier, maybe drug them with a gas, or can't she change the gravity locally? Immobilize everyone that way? Or do I remember that ability wrong, I thought she did that previously.
However, many scenes were fun, and there is more and more evidence that the new Commonwealth isn't very choosy about methods and allies if it suits their bigger purposes, much like the old one in that way I assume. Did the Commonwealth condone that kind of torture to smuggle the information out, I wonder, and was that really the only way? And did they promise the doctor to drop the prosecution of his crimes in exchange? Also, how or rather why did the doctor die? Did Dylan let her (the one whose name I forgot from above, something with A) kill him? Also it becomes more clear that Dylan has problems with going back to simply follow orders as part of the Commonwealth like he did before. Even now the Andromeda doesn't have a regular crew (though that could be personal shortage) and he is not wearing uniform, neither is the crew, so it seems they don't seem to intend to join the new High Guard in a regular way and be part of a command structure. He now obviously prefers the renegade legend status to being just one High Guard captain among many.
