Spoilers for Enterprise 2x14 Stigma...
Overall the analogy between "mind-melding/Pa'nar syndrome" and "gay sex/AIDS" came across as somewhat awkward and forced to me, but I guess you have to use something like that if you want to do an AIDS awareness episode for Star Trek. Anyway, it seems Vulcan changes quite a bit between the time of Enterprise and ST:TOS, or do I remember it wrong that in TOS mind-melding was okay for Vulcans? My knowledge of Star Trek canon and Vulcan background is spotty at best so I'm really not sure of this, still based on the general impressions of Vulcans I got from casual Trek watching, I am a bit surprised by the picture of Vulcan that's been presented not only in this episode but in the whole series so far. I've been wondering, is it only due to my lack of knowledge, or do the Vulcans in Enterprise "feel" different to more informed fans too?
