So, in avoiding doing anything useful or productive: It's now Meme Time!
First the Friday Five:
1. Name five things in your refrigerator.
Tomato ketchup, soy sauce, milk, mushrooms, carrots.
2. Name five things in your freezer.
Vanilla ice cream, spinach, springroll dough, a bag mixed frozen vegetables, frozen parsley.
3. Name five things under your kitchen sink.
Trash bags, paper bags, sponges, liquid green soap, washing powder.
4. Name five things around your computer.
Brushes, two kinds of ink, liquid white, a lamp, a rubber ducky.
5. Name five things in your medicine cabinet.
If the shelf in my bathroom cabinet counts -- painkillers, an elastic bandage, band-aids, disinfectant, cortisone cream.
Now for the fannish5:
1. What character would you love to see get his/her own show?
I usually like ensembles as ensembles, so I'm more likely to want characters I like to have more time inside the existing structure, instead of a new spin-off. That said, I don't think I'd have minded had the Giles-centric Buffy spin-off Ripper been realized. Also, I think I'd take an Arsenal book over the current Outsiders any day, especially if it had Nightwing as regular co-star.
2. If you could get rid of one character, who would it be?
I guess Dylan Hunt from Andromeda. I actually liked the character at the beginning, but Kevin Sorbo managed to turn him into one of the most annoying main characters ever, who ruins a lot of what I like about Andromeda.
3. What character do you hate, but wouldn't get rid of?
I rarely hate characters. I'm sometimes annoyed with characters, or just indifferent. Hmm. I don't like Huntress much (the comic character not the one in the tv series), but I wouldn't get rid of her.
4. What character do you love but think has overstayed his/her welcome?
It hasn't happened to me yet that I really loved a character and still wished s/he would go away permanently. Closest I think is the Joker. I really like him as a villain, but I think lately he's been used too often and often not very well (the low point was IMO he Last Laugh DC-wide event). I wouldn't mind if he had a leave of absence for a while, and then a comeback with a really good writer and some consistency in his appearances. I don't want him to be gone forever though.
5. If you could move one character to a different show, who would it be?
I don't know. An X-File episode about Wolverine would have been cool, with Mulder and Scully researching the Weapon X project. But that's more like a crossover, and I don't see Logan as a permanent cast member there. I don't really like characters removed from their universes, it's more the package deal I love.
