Daredevil #53 (by David Mack)
Another Daredevil issue without Daredevil in it. I want the main character back in his book. It's all well and good that Echo goes on a vision quest and all, and the art is still really pretty, but I want Matt in the story. It is his book, dammit. It's not that I dislike Echo (though I'm starting to resent her for hijacking the book), but this is so very, very Mary Sueish.
Hulk Gray #1 (written by Jeph Loeb, art by Tim Sale)
Right now I'm still pretty indifferent to this one. I don't know much about Hulk, so a retelling of his origins doesn't grab me in itself. The main reason I buy Hulk Gray is that I love Tim Sale's artwork. So far the story hasn't surprised me, or shown me something new about Hulk, except that he was gray in the beginning. I checked out a synopsis siteabout Hulk to see what's behind this gray Hulk stuff, but only ended up rather confused with all the different kinds of Hulks and the separating and merging of the consciousnesses etc. Anyway, from that I gathered that Hulk Gray doesn't follow the continuity, so there's hope yet the story will make sense in itself as an alternate version... *grin* Anyway, I'm curious how this gray/green transformation will be explained in Loeb's version.
Wolverine #6 (written by Greg Rucka, pencils by Darick Robertson, inks by Tom Palmer)
The issue isn't quite as slashy as its cover suggest, for example we don't get the scene where Logan looks at a naked Kurt's crotch like on the cover. Still, I like both Wolverine and Nightcrawler quite a lot, and both together are even better. I mean, I would have liked it better if Kurt had had the sexual fantasy dream about Wolverine, and not the FBI agents Cassie, but eh, you can't have everything. On the whole the issue is a bit slow, but then it's the setup for a new arc, and there was lots of carnage recently, so I'm okay with the introspective focus for a change. And I liked lots of little things, like how Logan insisted that Kurt turns of his cloaking device before touching him.
